Many consider the Columbia River Gorge to be the Eighth Wonder of the World. Breathtaking is clearly an understatement when describing this awe-inspiring place and Hood River County is located in the heart of it. Hood River County is perfectly located to satisfy all your recreational needs. Want to go hiking or biking? Great! There are miles and miles of trails all through out Hood River County. Ever thought of trying to windsurf? Perfect! Hood River County is known as the windsurfing capital of the world. How about Skiing or Snowboarding? You're in luck! Mt. Hood offers year round skiing. Is history your thing? Well, there just happens to be a minimum of 4 different museums located in and around Hood River County just waiting to share their exciting tales of yesterday with you. As you can see there is almost no limit to what a person can do when visiting Hood River County. No matter where you are you are within an hour of everything. Whether it's Portland to the west, the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center and eastern Oregon to the east, the mighty Columbia River to the north, or Mt. Hood to the south we've got you covered. Hood River County just has fun and enjoyment written all over it.

Hood River County's Parks & Buildings Division

Hood River County's Parks and Buildings division currently maintains approximately 13 facilities. They include day-use parks, a museum, and overnight tent and RV camping facilities. A couple of these facilities include:

Tollbridge Park

Tollbridge Park is perfectly situated for whatever recreational itch needs scratching. It's south-central location places you only 20 minutes from everything Hood River County has to offer. Situated near the base of Mt. Hood Tollbridge Park is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful parks in the country. It has 85 campsites, 2 covered shelters, a day use area with a playground, covers approximately 100 acres and is bordered on one side by the Hood River. Of the 85 campsites 20 are full hookup RV sites, 45 are partial hookup RV sites, and 20 are tent sites. For reservations call 541-352-5522.

Tucker Park

Tucker Park is located only a few miles south of the city of Hood River and also sits directly on the Hood River itself. This park is probably the most heavily used facility in Hood River County's parks system due to the overwhelming popularity of windsurfing in this area. Tucker Park offers 90 campsites most of which can handle either tents or RVs with 20 partial hookup sites being allocated for RV use only. Tucker Park also offers a day use area with covered shelter for a very nice lunching experience. The close proximity to the Columbia River make this park appealing to those wind junkies needing that adrenaline rush that comes with rocketing their boards across the tops of the white caps.
