Henry Hagg Lake & Scoggins Valley Park
Located just 25 miles southwest of Portland, at the base of Oregon's beautiful coastal range, Hagg Lake offers visitors the best of outdoor recreational activities.
Owned
by the US Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) and maintained and operated by
Washington County, the park features numerous picnic areas, two boat
launching facilities, a fully-stocked lake for fishing, more than 15
miles of hiking/biking trails and observation decks for wildlife and
bird watching.
Since the creation of Henry Hagg Lake in the mid 1970's, Washington County and the BOR have shared a commitment to make the park user-friendly to every visitor.
Hiking and Biking
Enjoy a view of the lake and nearby foothills as you bike or hike 15
miles of easy to moderate trails following the edge of the lake. Head
out to the perimeter road for an additional 10.5 miles of low traffic,
paved bike lanes.
Wildlife
You may catch a glimpse of some of the wildlife that make their home
around the lake — elk, deer, coyotes, bobcats, osprey, bald eagles,
red-tail hawks, beavers, squirrels and a wide variety of songbirds and
waterfowl.
Picknicking
Four large group picnic areas welcome your large party or company function.
Two group sites accommodate 80 people and two covered pavilions can
seat 200. Small private sites with tables and barbecue grills are found
throughout the park.
Boating
Two 800-foot long hard-surface boat ramps with launch and recovery floats
provide easy boat access to Hagg Lake. Rent a motorboat, canoe, kayak
or paddleboat at Boat Ramp 'C'. The west end of the lake is a no-wake
zone to accommodate sailing, rafting, canoeing and trolling. For water
skiing, jet skiing or motor boating, the east end allows speeds up to
35mph.
Swimming
Most of the lake's shoreline is accessible for swimming. Be sure to
swim with a buddy, as there are no lifeguards or officially designated
areas for swimming.
Fishing
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks the lake with rainbow
trout. Fish from the bank, a boat, or the fully accessible 260-foot
fishing pier. The lake also contains Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Bluegill,
Crappie, Large and Small Mouth Bass.
Directions
Go west on Highway 8 through Hillsboro to the Forest Grove junction
with Highway 47. Turn left onto Highway 47 for 5.9 miles to the Hagg
Lake/Scoggins Valley Park signs. Turn right at the signs and drive 3.7
miles to the park entrance.

week from the first week in March to late November. A day use pass is
required.
