100 Valleys of the Umpqua River
Established in 1950, the Douglas County Parks Department was the first County Parks system developed in the state of Oregon. Located along the 100 valleys of the Umpqua River, it is the perfect place to go for picnicking, hiking, camping, boating, fishing, jet skiing and scenic driving. We invite you to experience our beautiful parks and friendly personal hospitality.

Overnight Camping
The following 6 overnight campgrounds contain a total of 220 sites and all but Whistler's Bend offer full hookup service year-round:
Pass Creek Park (541-942-3281) located off I-5 at Curtin, exit #163; it is complete with a stream, pond, restrooms and showers, playground and two reservable pavilions. Pass Creek is a hidden gem, perfect for the traveler or picnicker. It contains campsites with full RV hookups and it also has abundant space for tent camping. 50 amp electrical pedestals - new restrooms - and laundry facilities available.
Stanton Park (541-839-4483) on the South Umpqua River at Canyonville off I-5 northbound exit #99 or southbound exit 101, offers a picnic area, large pavilion, accessible restrooms with showers, fishing, playground and a section that can be reserved for group camping.
Amacher Park (541-957-7001) located on the North Umpqua River 5 miles north of Roseburg, offers cool peaceful surroundings for the picnicker or traveler. There is a boat ramp, accessible restrooms and showers, a picnic area, a gazebo that can be reserved and one of the few Myrtlewood groves in the country.
Whistler's
Bend Park (541-673-4863) located 15 miles east of Roseburg
off Highway 138, has 175 acres and is adjacent to the North Umpqua River.
It provides a rustic setting for a diversity of recreational pursuits
including fishing, boat launch ramp, playground, picnicking, camping
(no hookups), hiking and a disc golf course. There are showers and accessible
restrooms with 23 non-reservable, paved, non-hookups, 2 reservable Yurts
and group camping areas. Reservations are accepted for group camping
by small and large groups.
Windy Cove A (541-271-4138) and Windy Cove B (541- 271-5634) are located adjacent to Salmon Harbor at Winchester Bay via Hwy 101, 4 miles south of Reedsport. These two campgrounds are a perfect place for family camping fun at the coast. 21 hookup sites (out of 40) are now reservable at Windy Cove B through the park office (541-957-7001). We will also accept reservations for 8 of our 29 non-hookup sites. Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Activities available are fishing, crabbing, boating, sand dunes and whale watching from the whale watching station.
Day-Use
Parks
In addition to our six year-round overnight campgrounds, we offer many popular day-use parks.
Mildred Kanipe Park (541-459-9567), outside Oakland, features horseback riding and hiking and is open March 15 through November 1st.
River Forks Park (541- 673-6935) at the confluence of the North and South Rivers, the showplace of Douglas County Parks, boasts two wading pools with spouting whales, a soccer field, a baseball field, horseshoe pits, a covered pavilion (which may be reserved), open areas for picnicking, a boat ramp and playground equipment; a large beach area has been developed to provide access for fishing and boating. This is an ideal park for family recreation.
Coastal Visitor Center
Our Coastal Visitor Center (541-271-4631) occupies the former Umpqua River U.S. Coast Guard Station. This historical building, located about two miles south of Winchester Bay, overlooking the mouth of the Umpqua River, houses displays on the area's maritime history and natural history as well as serving as the originating point for tours of the Umpqua River Lighthouse (open May 1 to September 30). Group tours during the off-season are made by calling 541-957-7001 at least one week in advance.
Picturesque
Reservoirs
Douglas County Parks is also host to three picturesque Reservoirs where one can enjoy fishing, boating, hiking, and water-skiing to mention just a few of the activities.
Ben Irving Reservoir (541-679-4695) located 12 miles west of Winston.
Galesville Reservoir (541-837-3302) by Azalea which is the largest man-made reservoir in the county. The clear water provides a great habitat for bass and trout. Accessible restrooms and a pavilion are also available.
Cooper Creek Reservoir (541-459-2703) just a few
miles from Sutherlin, provides a popular spot for the fisherman or boater.
Facilities include two boat launch ramps, restrooms, picnic areas, accessible
fishing dock, water-skiing, jetskiing, and bass and trout fishing.
